    Our merchants and their customer base are loving ReSpek, and we believe it’s because of the simple genius of the project: Planting the miracle succulent, spekboom. More than just a carbon offset, ReSpek restores the original natural ecosystem in the semi-arid South African Karoo and does so with a strong social angle on creating rural jobs.

    So much of the Karoo has been overgrazed, over many decades of farming. The hardy spekboom locks water into its stems and leaves, reintroduces nutrients into the soil, and promotes biodiversity. The more support we get, the more people we can employ to plant more spekboom, and the more carbon gets absorbed. Simple.
